My name is Louise Buckley and I am a Level 6 qualified careers advisor, and member of the Career Development Institute.

With over a decade of experience giving careers guidance, I have acquired a vast range of expertise and knowledge, from being a Careers Manager and Coordinator in an independent school, through to working in FE colleges, universities, and helping adults make informed decisions about “what to do next”?!

My careers background is very extensive. I started working in schools and FE Colleges for Connexions after qualifying as a Careers advisor.  I became head of careers at an independent school, which included managing work experience placements, as well as supporting students with their post- 18 options, such as university and apprenticeship applications.  In addition to working with young people I worked with adults, sometimes this meant private interviews for graduates regarding next steps to secure their desired employment post university.  One of the stand-out experiences of my career was supporting young people and their families when there were multiple barriers to accessing learning and employment; It was wonderful to see the young person turn their life around with ongoing support and guidance.

My background extends beyond being a careers advisor. I worked for 6 years in the rail industry as a business strategy manager, which involved overseeing the development of a rail ticket site.  The role involved building relationships with outside parties, as well as leading the strategy for the business moving forward. Working within the rail industry is an asset to my work as a careers advisor because it has given me direct experience of working within another professional sector.I take a particular interest in supporting people returning to work after a break, or who are making significant career transitions. Having 3 children myself, including a baby I understand how periods of absence can affect confidence and how important it is to find ways to re-build your skills and confidence.  I set up this business after leaving the rail industry and having my 3rd baby.
