Returning after a Career Break?
Have you had a career break (for any reason) and need advice and guidance on returning to work?
Feel stuck in your career?
Do you want to progress in your career but aren’t quite sure where to start? I can help!
Who am I?
I’m Louise Buckley, a Level 6 qualified careers advisor (PGDip Career Guidance) and member of the Career Development Institute.
Since beginning my career at Connexions Oxfordshire in 2011, I have acquired a vast range of expertise and knowledge in the field of careers guidance. This ranges from acting as careers co-ordinator in an independent school, through to working in FE colleges and universities, and helping adults make informed decisions about “what to do next”!

Who do I work with?
I work with anyone needing careers advice and guidance. I have a particular interest in working with people returning to work after a break or seeking a complete career change, and young people looking for advice and guidance on choices at ages 16-18.

16-18 Choices
Whether you’re 16, 18 or supporting someone who is, deciding between the options open to you can feel overwhelming. I can help you make sense of it and move forward with confidence.

Feel stuck in your career?
It can be extremely daunting to change career paths, or jobs. It doesn’t have to stay like that. I can help you take things to the next level and to make the right decision for you.
What to Expect
I value being able to give impartial advice and guidance, which helps build clients’ self-awareness, is empowering and well-informed. A careers session will involve the following:
Pre-interview assessment form
This enables you to outline your current situation and what you want to discuss. This is valuable not only because it helps structure the session, but also enables me to do preliminary research beforehand.
Careers Interview with agenda agreed by you
During the session you will set the agenda, which can be renegotiated at any point. Once we have an agreed agenda we will explore your current situation, which includes analysis of your skills, strengths, career knowledge and aspirations.
Personalised action plan
Finally, we will agree on an action plan. An action plan is an agreed set of actions, within a specific timeframe to move you forward.
Careers interviews combine both guidance and research, which will mean not only doing research for you, but helping you do your own research. I’m happy to have an informal discussion before booking an appointment, to ensure we are a good fit!
